• Do research as much as you can. Do research about your market, your competitors, your audience, about every thing that is related to your business (Or you can hire a professional who will do that for you).
• If you don't have it yet, make a Marketing Plan.
• Make a realistic budget that will allow you to hire a web designer and/or graphic designer who can add some value to your business.
• Define your marketing goals. Be realistic.
• Prepare a brief for your web designer and/or graphic designer.
• Pick the right person and be happy.
Only with the right web designer and/or graphic designer who has the marketing knowledge you can have the right web site that will
• Attract the potential and existing customers.
• Across your Marketing Message.
• Add value to your business.
• Eventually increase your sales or whatever your purpose was.

As a small business owner or a marketing leader, you may be realizing that in today's, competitive world you have to have a website. There are many ways to have a website. I'd like to divide the options into two categories.
1- Wrong way.
2- My way:)
Let's talk about the wrong options first.
• You can build your own website by yourself. You don't even have to learn HTML codes, there are many softwares that would do HTML codes for you.
• You can get your website built by 16 years old neighbor's teenager. Maybe this option is even better than the first one:)
• There are some web site design companies around that offer you 12.000 web site design templates for only $75.
• You can hire a freelance web designer who has no idea about graphic design, marketing communication and SEO, (maybe who doesn't even have a website) etc. This option requires more marketing investment, some thing around $300-$500.
All these options are wrong. Because the website done by a non-marketer, non-graphic designer will not have any positive effect on your business. Think again about why you really want to have a website.
